Integration with the Thies Compact WSC-11 Modbus weather station

The purpose of this article is to present an example of integrating the weather station with the Grenton Smart Home System. The following integration is using the Modbus RTU communication protocol.

The weather station used in this example is Thies Compact WSC-11.

This integration allows us to receive the following information:

  • air temperature;
  • wind speed and direction;
  • brightness value from North, East, South and West;
  • relative and absolute humidity;
  • air pressure.

To complete this example, we need:

  • Gate Modbus (named Gate_Modbus)
  • Weather station Thies Compact WSC-11.

Configuration of Modbus periphery objects

  1. According to the weather station's documentation, we make settings that will allow Modbus communication.

  2. We add Modbus periphery objects:

  3. We complete the values of the embedded features:
  • Air temperature:

  • Wind speed:

  • Wind direction:

  • Brightness - North:

  • Brightness - East:

  • Brightness - South:

  • Brightness - West:

  • Relative humidity:

  • Absolute humidity:

  • Air pressure:

4. Change the value of the ModbusMasterFrameSpace feature in the Gate Modbus module to 10:

5. We send the created configuration to the Gate Modbus module.
